First Reading
Acts 1:1-11
Jesus appears to his apostles for forty days, speaking about the Kingdom of God. He commands them to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit. Before ascending into heaven, he promises them power to be witnesses to the ends of the earth. Two men in white announce that Jesus will return in the same way.
Therefore, when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, are you now restoring the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, “It isn’t for you to know times or seasons which the Father has set within his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”
When he had said these things, as they were looking, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight. While they were looking steadfastly into the sky as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white clothing, who also said, “You men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 47:2-3, 6-7, 8-9
- Oh clap your hands, all you nations. Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For Yahweh Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.
God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet. - God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praise to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises.
God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet. - For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with understanding. God reigns over the nations. God sits on his holy throne.
God has gone up with a shout, Yahweh with the sound of a trumpet.
Second Reading
Ephesians 1:17-23
Paul prays that the believers may receive a spirit of wisdom and revelation, knowing the hope of God's calling and the greatness of His power. This power raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at God's right hand, far above all rule and authority, making Him head over all things for the Church.

Matthew 28:19a, 20b
Alleluia, alleluia. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Alleluia, alleluia.
