Saint Augustin Nguyen Van Moi (1806-1839) - Vietnamese Martyr Saint

Augustin Nguyen Van Moi, a farmer of the Third Order of St. Dominic, was born in 1806 in Phu Trang, Nam Dinh. He was martyred on December 19, 1839 in Co Me. Pope Leo XIII beatified him together with four others on May 27, 1900. Later, Pope John Paul II canonized them as saints on June 19, 1988. Their feast day is celebrated annually on December 19.

Augustin Dong, born on November 22, 1822 in Mittelbronn, France, from a young age was virtuous, studious, diligent in prayer, obedient to superiors, and harmonious with friends. He excelled in his studies and was loved by all. Pope Leo XIII beatified him in 1900 and Pope John Paul II canonized him as a saint in 1988. His feast day is May 1.

Saint Anthony Nguyen Dich, an exemplary model of faith and courage, used his fortune to help the missionary work. When he was arrested for harboring priests, he remained steadfast in his faith and was beheaded on August 12, 1838. He was beatified by Pope Leo XIII on May 27, 1900 and canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 19, 1988.
