Why is learning like children effective?

A 3-year-old child:

  • Has never studied grammar
  • Has never studied vocabulary systematically
  • Has never done exercises
  • BUT can speak thousands of sentences naturally!

The secret:

Children hear "Eat your food" hundreds of times → Brain automatically recognizes patterns → Spontaneously creates sentences "Drink your milk", "Wash your hands"

The brain learns language through REPETITION, not MEMORIZATION.

Evidence from Lesson 1

Pattern Analysis in the Lesson:

  • "I am..." - repeated 31 times
  • "I like..." - repeated 29 times
  • "When I..., I..." - repeated 17 times
  • "I want..." - repeated 13 times

Results After 10 Listens:

You AUTOMATICALLY can say:

  • "I like working from home"
  • "When I read, I feel happy"
  • "I want to learn new things"

No need to study grammar! Your brain has absorbed the patterns through repetition.

Comparing two learning methods

Traditional learning:

  • Learn 50 new words each week
  • Study grammar rule by rule
  • Pressure to memorize
  • Forget after 2 weeks
  • Know a lot, use little

Immersion learning:

  • Repeat 50 basic words hundreds of times
  • Listen to patterns over and over
  • Relax, listen naturally
  • Remember for life
  • Know little, use proficiently

5 GOLDEN PRINCIPLES

1️⃣ REPETITION > LEARNING NEW

1 lesson listened to 100 times > 100 lessons listened to once

  • Better to know 100 words proficiently
  • Than to know 1000 words you can't use

2️⃣ COMBINE LISTENING AND READING

  • Each person learns differently
  • Audio learners → Listen more
  • Visual learners → Read while listening
  • Find what works best for you

3️⃣ UNDERSTAND FROM CONTEXT > USE DICTIONARY

  • Don't look up words immediately
  • Let your brain "guess" from context
  • The brain learns better through discovery

4️⃣ SPEAK ALOUD > READ SILENTLY

  • Repetition MUST be spoken aloud
  • Ears hear + Mouth speaks = Brain remembers longer
  • Don't speak silently in your head

5️⃣ PATIENCE > SPEED

  • Learn slowly but surely > Learn fast but forget
  • The brain needs time to absorb
  • Don't rush to the next lesson

Lesson 1: Self-introduction

Main Patterns to Absorb:

  1. I am + noun/adjective (I am...)
  2. I like + noun/V-ing (I like...)
  3. I want to + V (I want to...)
  4. I have + noun (I have...)
  5. When I + V, I + V (When I..., I...)
  6. I believe + clause (I believe...)

After Lesson 1, You Will:

✅ Be able to speak 1-2 minutes about yourself
✅ Use 6 patterns automatically, without thinking
✅ Have 324 words you CAN USE (not just know)
✅ Confidently introduce yourself in English

How to study Lesson 1 (7 days)

Phase 1: IMMERSION (Days 1-5)

Days 1-3: Just Listen

  • Listen about 3 times during the day (can be more if you like)
  • Whenever free: morning, noon, evening, while commuting, before bed...
  • Don't try to understand 100%
  • Just listen to the natural flow
  • Goal: Get familiar with the sounds
  • On Day 3 you can optionally Listen + Read if you want to see the written text (Written text is not mandatory for language immersion)

Days 4-5: Listen + Repeat

  • Listen to 1 sentence → Pause → Repeat EXACTLY
  • Mimic the voice, rhythm, emotion
  • Don't translate to Vietnamese
  • About 2-3 times during the day (20-30 minutes each time)
  • Goal: Patterns begin to absorb into the brain

Phase 2: Creation (Days 6-7)

Day 6: Shadow (listen + speak in real-time, by ear)

Pure shadowing (without text):

  • Listen → Brain processes → Speak along → 0.5-1 second behind
  • Like an echo following
  • Focus on mimicking sounds

Reading simultaneously (with text):

  • Eyes read text → Speak simultaneously with audio → Fully synced
  • Like karaoke with lyrics
  • But brain depends on text, not sound

Shadowing without text will be about 0.5-1 second behind (speaking slightly after), not completely simultaneous. You can choose the appropriate method.

  • About 2-3 times
  • Goal: Automate patterns

Day 7: Create Your Own

  • Record yourself introducing yourself (1-2 minutes)
  • Use the patterns you've absorbed
  • DON'T use a dictionary - Only use words you already know
  • Goal: Test your ability to create sentences

Checkpoint: When to move to the next lesson?

✅ You PASS if:

  • Can speak 1-2 minutes about yourself without hesitation
  • Automatically use patterns, without thinking
  • Feel "sentences come naturally", not translating from Vietnamese
  • Clear pronunciation, confident

❌ You DON'T PASS if:

  • Have to stop and think about words
  • Still translating from Vietnamese to English in your head
  • Speech is unnatural, stiff
  • Lack confidence

➡️ IF YOU DON'T PASS: Stay on Lesson 1 for a few more days. Repeat from Day 4.

Q&A Lesson: Review and reflex training

After each main lesson, there will be a conversation between two people about what was just learned.

Purpose:

  • Review vocabulary and patterns in a new way
  • Practice reflexes in hearing questions and answering
  • See how patterns are used in real conversations
  • Get familiar with two-way communication instead of just listening to one person
  • Make learning more interactive and engaging

How to use:

  • Listen to the entire conversation multiple times
  • Choose a role to play (questioner or answerer)
  • Listen to the other person's line → Say your line
  • Practice until reflexes are natural, without thinking

Note:

The Q&A lesson uses the same vocabulary and patterns from the main lesson, just in a shorter conversational format.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. "Isn't 7 days for one lesson too slow?"
    No!
Learn slowly but surely > Learn fast but forget.
One new lesson each week, the brain has time to absorb. Children take 2-3 years to speak their mother tongue fluently. You only need a few months to master basic communication.
  2. "I still don't understand everything after listening several times?"
    That's normal!
The brain needs time. Don't try to understand 100% from the start. Understanding 60-70% is enough. After many listens, you'll understand 90%.
  3. "Do I need to study grammar?"
    No!
At least not right now. After absorbing 5-6 lessons, your brain already knows grammar naturally. Then studying grammar becomes meaningful.
  4. "Do I need to use a dictionary?"
    Just a little.
Only look up words that appear many times and you absolutely can't guess. Let your brain guess from context first.
  5. "Is the Q&A lesson mandatory?"
    Not mandatory
, but highly recommended. The Q&A lesson helps you review and train reflexes. If you skip it, you'll still learn, but you'll miss the opportunity to practice two-way communication.
  6. "When should I study the Q&A lesson?"
    After finishing the main lesson.
Don't study them in parallel. Study the main lesson first, pass the checkpoint, then move to the Q&A lesson.
  7. "Which role should I play in the conversation?"
    Start with the answerer
(Role B) because it's easier - you just need to listen to questions and answer. After mastering it, you can try the questioner (Role A) or switch roles to challenge yourself.
  8. "Is the Q&A lesson harder than the main lesson?"
    No, actually easier.
The Q&A lesson uses the same vocabulary and patterns from the main lesson, but with shorter, easier-to-remember sentences. It's a lighter and more fun way to review.
  9. "Can I skip the Q&A lesson?"
    You can
, but you shouldn't. The Q&A lesson helps the brain remember more deeply by repeating in a different way. If you're really busy, you can listen a few times then move to the new lesson.
  10. "Does the Q&A lesson take a lot of time?"
    Not much.
Since you're already familiar with vocabulary and patterns from the main lesson, the Q&A lesson only needs a few days instead of a whole week. Listen a few times, practice role-playing, done.
  11. "How many times should I study the main lesson before studying the Q&A lesson?"
    There's no fixed number.
When you pass the checkpoint of the main lesson (can speak naturally, without hesitation), you're ready for the Q&A lesson. Don't rush, don't force yourself.

Conclusion

Don't race to learn many words. Learn slowly but surely. Absorb instead of forcing. Your brain knows how to learn language. You just need patience.
